If you are planning to send commercial bulk SMS, OTPs, or customer notifications in India, registration under the TRAI Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) framework is mandatory by telecom regulations.
What is DLT Entity Registration?
DLT is a regulatory verification system introduced to curb unsolicited commercial calls and SMS spam. Every business or enterprise that wants to communicate with customers via SMS must register as a Principal Entity (PE).
Documents Needed for Registration
- Company Proof: Certificate of Incorporation, GST Certificate, or Trade License.
- Business Identity: Business PAN Card.
- Signatory Verification: Authorized signatory's PAN and Aadhaar/Passport.
- Letter of Authorization (LOA): Official letter on company letterhead authorizing the representative.
Simple Steps to Complete Registration
- Visit any registered portal (such as Jio TrueConnect, Airtel DLT, or Vodafone Idea DLT).
- Select Register as Enterprise / Principal Entity.
- Fill in your business details exactly as they appear on your PAN and GST certificates.
- Upload the requested documents and complete the standard verification fee.
- Once approved, you receive a unique Entity ID that works across all telecom platforms.
Tip for new clients: You only need to register on one portal. Once your Entity ID is issued, SAM Technologies can assist you in linking it to your SMS delivery gateway immediately.
