How to Get DLT Sender IDs (Headers) Approved

SAM Technologies • Beginner & Client Guide • Quick Overview

A Sender ID (technically called a Header in DLT) is the 6-character sender name that recipients see on their mobile phones when they receive an SMS from your business (for example: SAMTEC or HDFCBK).

Types of Sender IDs (Headers)

  • Promotional Headers: 6-digit numeric headers (e.g., 654321) used exclusively for marketing offers and discounts.
  • Transactional / Service Headers: 6-character alpha headers (e.g., SAMTEC) used for OTPs, order updates, invoices, and service notifications.

Rules to Ensure Fast Approval

  1. Brand Relevance: The header characters must directly relate to your registered company name, trade name, or brand trademark.
  2. No Generic Names: Generic words like OFFERS, DISCNT, or ALERT will be rejected immediately.
  3. Exact 6 Characters: Transactional and service headers must be exactly 6 alphabetic letters (case-insensitive).
  4. Provide Justification: When submitting on the portal, provide a brief note explaining how the header represents your brand.
